1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, remember your preferences, and provide information to site owners.
We also use localStorage — a similar browser technology that stores data locally on your device. Unlike cookies, localStorage data is not sent to our servers automatically.
2. How We Use Cookies and Local Storage
Strictly Necessary (Cannot Be Disabled)
These are required for the Platform to function:
- Age verification: Remembers that you have confirmed you are 18 or older for this session.
- Session management: Keeps you logged in during your session (paid tier accounts only).
- Security: Protects against cross-site request forgery (CSRF).
LocalStorage (Your Device Only)
We store your assessment progress and results in your browser's localStorage. This data:
- Never leaves your device — we do not receive it
- Is not a cookie and cannot be read by other websites
- Expires after 30 days of inactivity for test progress
- Can be cleared by you at any time
localStorage keys we use:
150layers_age_v1— age verification status150layers_qp_v1— Quick Profile results150layers_test_v1— assessment progress (30-day expiry)
Analytics (GoatCounter)
We use GoatCounter for site analytics. GoatCounter is cookieless — it does not set any cookies and does not track individuals across sessions or websites. It records only aggregate data: page views, country, referrer, and device type. No personal identifiers are collected or stored.
Cookies We Do NOT Use
We do not use:
- Advertising or targeting cookies
- Social media tracking pixels
- Cross-site tracking cookies
- Fingerprinting technologies
- Any third-party analytics that identify individuals
3. Stripe (Payment Processing)
If you subscribe to a paid tier, Stripe (our payment processor) may set cookies necessary to process your payment securely. These are strictly necessary and are governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy. We do not control these cookies.
4. Managing Your Cookies and Local Data
Clear Local Storage
You can clear all locally stored data at any time:
- Use the "Clear My Data" option in the app menu
- Or clear your browser's site data for 150layers.com in your browser settings
Browser Cookie Controls
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling strictly necessary cookies may prevent the Platform from functioning correctly. Most browsers allow you to:
- View all cookies stored on your device
- Block all or specific cookies
- Delete all cookies when you close the browser

We may update this Cookie Policy as the Platform evolves. Changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
